ABOUT THE CAUSE
The Back To School Supply Rally was created in 2004. DJ RO began his community endeavors by giving his 1st Annual Back To School Rally to assist families in reducing financial burdens for the start of the upcoming school year. We provided school supplies, health screening, voter’s registration, uniforms, bags, computer give-a-ways and prizes for the kids with the support of sponsors and The New Orleans Police Department. Philanthropist/Entertainer John Legend, Mase, as well as Q93 and local artists have shown support to the Back to School Rally throughout the years. DJ RO strives to make each year better than the previous with your support. This year goal is to give away 10 laptops throughout the city of New Orleans to students grades 5 -12. The students must write a one-page essay answering one of the following questions: If you can change the education system in New Orleans, La. What would you do to make it better and why? What extracurricular program would you like to have at your school and why? The last day for all entries is October 21, 2011, winners will be announced on October 28, 2011. The contest will be advertised through our many media partners; WQUE FM NEW ORLEANS Q93, WYLD FM 98, 90.7 FM, B97, Talk To Me New Orleans Television Show, Hip Hop and Fashion Television Show, The Times Picayune, etc. We will also work with participating schools and send information to schools to extend the purpose and importance of participating in this project. We must exercise our kids minds and find ways to keep them involved and focused on the importance of education and having a vision for their future.
