Sixty-two-year old and daughter to travel to New Orleans

Santa Barbara, Calif. — Thanks to Dream Foundation, the only national dream-granting organization for terminally-ill adults, Afena Walker’s final Dream will be fulfilled when she and her daughter travel from Batesville, Ind. to New Orleans to spend seven days and six nights exploring all that New Orleans has to offer.

Walker, who is battling cancer, dreamed of visiting New Orleans and staying in the French Quarter. She writes, “I have always wanted to visit New Orleans because I have always been interested in the culture and people in the area. I also like warm climates, and I’d love to share this with my daughter because she has been there for me every step of the way during my cancer treatments.”

Thanks to longtime corporate sponsors Southwest Airlines and Genentech, Walker’s Dream will become a reality when she and her daughter fly to New Orleans this week. They will be staying at the luxurious Dauphine Orleans of the New Orleans Hotel Collection that has provided accommodations for Walker and her daughter, complimentary breakfast each morning, and a welcome drink at Mary Bailey’s Place upon arrival.
